I think Portal pages like those on Memory Alpha would be a good idea. The Portals would be:

  • Portal:Characters
  • Portal:Locations
  • Portal:Organizations
  • Portal:Images or Galleries
  • Portal:Quotes

And maybe two others, by suggestion.

The Portals would be good starting places for new readers, having clear links to the most well known subjects in the Hardy World. Portal:Characters would have links to Frank and Joe, etc, Locations would have links to Bayport, etc, and so on. Also at the bottom of the characters Portal wold be something along the lines of Browse characters by series, status, etc.

Do you think this is a good idea?

Interesting idea. How do portals differ from category pages? I'm not sure quotes are worth a portal on their own, but books might be.

How do portals differ from category pages? Well, you can check 'em out at Wikipedia, as well as Memory Alpha.

I've done up a concept of what the Characters Portal might look like. You can see it at my sandbox. The current pics used are the wiki's logo, but for the final page they would be head shots of each character.

Looks good. Locations, organisations, etc. will be quite hard to find pictures of. Would they have an alternative layout style? Also, what do you think about the idea of having a books portal?

Yes, locations, and organizations pictures will be hard to find, so they'll likely have a different layout. For the location one, I'm think of having a world map, with clickable links to the locations the Hardys have visited. I think that would be a neat idea.

On the book portal, yes that's a good idea too, or we could have something like this.
