The Clue of the Broken Blade is the 21st book in The Hardy Boys series. It was first published in 1942 by Grosset & Dunlap and revised and re-published in 1970.
Plot summary
Frank and Joe Hardy's fencing instructor, Ettore Russo asks their help in proving he is the rightful heir to his grandfather's estate. A long-lost saber is the key to the problem, and the Hardy brothers head to California, in search of the blade.
The boys' investigation is complicated, when a bank is robbed, and some of their father's important records go missing. Using Fenton Hardy's new sound spectrograph, Frank and Joe are able to identify the voiceprints of the leader of the masked robbers. The Hardys, and their freind, Chet Morton are soon involved in a danger, as the robbery gang, who, as the boys discover, are also searching for the lost saber.
