The Hardy Boys Graphic Novel is a series of graphic novels based on the The Hardy Boys Undercover Brothers novels, and set in the same continuity. The series was written by Scott Lobdell, published by Papercutz (an imprint of NBM Publishing) in agreement with Simon & Schuster between between 2005 and 2010. It was distributed by Macmillan. A number of artists have worked on the series, most notably Paulo Henrique Marcondes.
Publication history
In the spring of 2004, NBM Publishing lunched their new imprint, Papercutz, and, in November 2004, published their first title under this imprint, a comic book series based on The Hardy Boys. Originally planned to be an ongoing monthly, the series, written by Scott Lobdell and drawn by Lea Hernandez, was canceled, in January 2005, after only three issues.
Papercutz revived the series in May 2005, this time as 92 page graphic novels. The first title in the series, The Ocean of Osyria, was a collection of the first three issues from the comic book series, but all following titles, the first of which was published in July 2005, have been original graphic novels.
After the format change, Lea Hernandez didn't return to the series, and she was replaced by Daniel Rendon, who provided the art for volumes #1-4. Sidney Lima drew #6 Hyde & Shriek, and collaborated with Rendon and Paulo Henrique Marcondes on #7 The Opposite Numbers. Paulo Henrique drew the next two titles, collaborated with Marvel Zero on the tenth, and, since Dude Ranch O' Death!, has been the only penciler on the series. Tim Smith 3 drew #11 Abracadeath.
With the publication of the 20th title in the series (Deadly Strategy) in [[2010, Papercutz discontinued the series and replaced it with a new graphic novel, The Hardy Boys The New Case Files. The new series is written Gerry Conway and drawn by Paulo Henrique.
