The Missing Chums is the fourth book in The Hardy Boys series. It was first published in 1928 by Grosset & Dunlap.

Plot summary

The Hardy Boys' are out sailing with their friends, Chet, Biff, Tony, Iola and Callie when a big storm separates the group. While the others turn back, Chet and Biff sail out to sea and go missing. After the storm, Frank and Joe fear the worst when they go looking for their friends and find the some wreckage. But then they receive a ransome note.... for themselves.

Baldy Turk and his gang have kidnapped the wrong pair of boys. When Frank and Joe trace them to Blacksnake Island and manage to free their friends. But the gang captures all 4 boys before they can escape. Frank and Joe escape a second time, destroy all the boats on the island, and then head home. They return with the authorities to apprehend the criminals and rescue their friends at last.
