The Mystery of the Chinese Junk is the 39th book in the The Hardy Boys series. It was first published 1960 by Grosset & Dunlap.

Plot summary

The Hardys purchase a Chinese junk to use as a ferry service, in order to make some money over the summer. It soon becomes apparent that others are very interested in the ship.

Main article: The Mystery of the Chinese Junk (1967 TV)

A television pilot, directed by Larry Peerce and starring Tim Matheson and Rick Gates as Joe and Frank Hardy, respectfully, was based on and named after The Mystery of the Chinese Junk. It aired on September 8, 1967, but was not sold, so no other episodes followed.[2]

The 1969-1971 The Hardy Boys cartoon also featured an adaptation of this book in the "The Mystery of the Chinese Junk" episode.
