Countdown to Disaster!

From Florida's Okefenokee Swamp to the Kennedy Space Center, Frank and Joe are drawn into a sinister foreign plot to sabotage the American Skyfire space shuttle. A series of mysterious "accidents" threatens to scuttle the launch of the Longeye satellite, and it's up to the Hardys to save the top-secret mission.

Ten, nine, eight, seven...time is running out on Frank and Joe. Their only hope is to take control of the shuttle and fly it into orbit. They're headed for deep trouble in deep space, for if the mission fails, they may never come back to earth again!

Trivia

  • Many order forms in the backs of Tom Swift, Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books issued by Wanderer Books between 1985 and 1989 show that this book was originally going to be titled The Mystery Of The Space Shuttle. It is unknown why the title was changed since it had nothing to do with the Space Shuttle Challenger Disaster since it occurred in 1986, a year after this book was released.
  • This was the last Hardy Boys title to be issued in hardcover as a standard release. In the late 80's ten BIG PRINT Casefiles hardcover books were released by a different company, but all Hardy Boys series books issued by Minstrel Books, Archway Paperbacks and Aladdin Paperbacks would be issued in paperback only, starting in 1987.
